Get Connected

 

Go through the following processes until you are connected:
Process 1: Open Internet Explorer 

  • Once the error pops up, click in the address bar and type splat.semo.edu
  • This may take a few minutes, so be patient.
  • If the ResNet Registration page comes up, type in your SE Key and password, read the policies, and click the accept button at the bottom of the page.

 

 Process 2: Check your IP address:

 

            For Windows 2000/XP:

    • Go to Start, Run, and type CMD, press enter.
    • Once the black window pops up, type ipconfig and press enter.
    • This will display your IP address.  Your IP address should start with “150.201.x.x” (i.e. 150.201.54.100).
    • If your I.P. address does not start with “150.201” you need to release/renew the IP address:  type ipconfig /release, then type ipconfig /renew
    • Verify that your IP address begins with “150.201.”

                                               

  For Windows 98/ME:

o       Go to Start, Run, type winipcfg

o       Select the ethernet adaptor from the drop-down menu, click Release, click Renew

o       Verify that your IP address begins with “150.201.”

 

·         Open the Internet Explorer and type splat.semo.edu in the address bar.

·         If the ResNet Registration page comes up, type in your SE Key and password, read the policies, and click the accept button at the bottom of the page.

 

 Process 3:  Check your LAN settings:

 

·         Open Internet Explorer

·         Click on Tools, Internet Options

·         Click on Connections tab

·         Click LAN Settings

·         Make sure that the only thing checked is the Automatically detect settings.  Remove all other check marks.

·         Now open the Internet Explorer and enter splat.semo.edu in the address bar.

·         If the ResNet Registration page comes up, type in your SE Key and password, read the policies, and click the accept button at the bottom of the page.

 

 Process 4:  Connect a different computer to your LAN drop.  Should the 2nd computer connect to the Internet, then it is a problem with your computer and not the LAN drop.  If you are still experiencing problems, report the problem, including the LAN drop number and room number, to the IT Help Desk: 651-4357, or email helpdesk@semo.edu

 

NOTE: If registration appears to be successful, but Internet Explorer keeps redirecting to the registration page, clear out the browser cache.  To do this:

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Click on Tools, Internet Options
  • On the General tab, click Delete Cookies, click OK to delete all cookies
  • Click Delete Files, check Delete all offline content, click OK
  • Click Clear History, click Yes to delete history

Close Internet Explorer.  Open Internet Explorer and see if it opens your homepage.   If Internet Explorer loads your homepage, then the problem should be fixed.
