FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STAMP TO PROVIDE KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT SAHEC DINNER AUCTION

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 8, 2002 – The Sikeston Area Higher Education Center (SAHEC) will hold its first dinner auction on April 6 at the Sikeston (Mo.) Ramada Inn.

The event, scheduled for 6 p.m., is designed to raise need-based and merit scholarship funds for the 1,000 students who attend the Center, said Judy Buck, SAHEC director.

“At present, there are only two designated scholarships available,” she said. “To continue to provide financial assistance to students, a successful dinner auction is a necessity.”

Charles Stamp Jr., president of the agricultural division – Global AgServices -- at Deere & Company, will be the keynote speaker.

Entertainment will be provided by the Southeast Missouri State University Jazz Combo.

In his current role, Stamp is responsible for guiding the development of new business opportunities. He joined Deere & Company in 1999, as part of the company's acquisition of InterAg Technologies, Inc., where he was president and chief executive officer. Most recently, he served as president of John Deere Special Technologies Group, which offers a wide range of electronic, wireless communications, information management and internet-related products and services to a broad range of customers and markets.

Stamp is a native of Southeast Missouri. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1971, and a law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law in Columbia in 1974. He practiced law from 1974 until 1981 in Sikeston, Mo. He entered the agribusiness industry in 1981 as president of Meyer Agri-Products, which later became a division of Butler Manufacturing Company, where he served as vice president of Butler's Agri-Products Division. He then served as president of Capital South Investors and as a partner of Capital Partners, Ltd., which founded InterAg Technologies, Inc.

Stamp is a member of the Bennett Agricultural Roundtable and a founding board member of the Agricultural Electronics Association, an arm of the Equipment Manufacturer's Institute.

Deere & Company creates smart and innovative solutions, in the form of advanced machines, services and concepts, for customers on the farmsite, worksite and homesite worldwide.
