ACADEMIC ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

The Academic Enhancement Program (AEP) provides first-year students with additional support to help them reach their academic goals. Students in the AEP work closely with an academic coach to identify academic deficiencies and develop a plan to ensure success in the classroom.

The AEP supports students entering the university with a cumulative high school grade point average below 2.5 and an ACT composite score below 21. There are no additional charges for students enrolled in the program.

The AEP connects first-year students to academic support services on campus. Southeast offers a wide array of academic support services including career counseling, tutoring, the Writing Center, and enrichment workshops - to name a few. Southeast also monitors the progress of all students through eight-week grade progress reports and intervenes when a student is deficient in their progress.

Entrance into the AEP is controlled through the Office of Admissions. Students admitted to the university through the AEP may enroll as degree seeking, full time students, taking 12 credit hours in the first semester. Each AEP student will work with an academic coach (professional staff member) and a student mentor.

AEP students will be required to sign a contract each semester that they are in the program which outlines their requirements for each semester.
