Recommendations for Incoming Students
Students may want to bring an existing
computer to campus or purchase a new personal computer. This
page details minimum requirements recommended by the IT
Department and lists services/resources available to those who
have personal computers.
If you plan to buy a new computer, we
recommend that it meet or exceed the following criteria:

Services available to students who choose to
bring a computer:

Direct access
to the campus network and Internet for all Resnet
(Residential Network) users. Students must supply their own
10/100Base-T ethernet network adapter and a CAT-5
ethernet cable

University recommends Microsoft Security Essentials which is
a free antivirus program that provides real-time protection
for your PC and guards against viruses, spyware, and other
malicious software. You can download it for free
here

Previous
students that have installed McAfee VirusScan Enterprise
Edition that was provided by Residence Life should uninstall
it and use
Microsoft Security Essentials instead
