For Voice, Flute and Tape (1997)

Audio Sample mp3: 572 k

Vibrations was written on a commission from the Missouri Music Teachers Association and was premiered at their annual meeting in Warrensberg, MO in the spring of 1997. The work is based on a poem by Shelly and on taped interviews with friends, colleagues, and former teachers concerning their experiences with music education. The voice sings the Shelly poem accompanied by the flute and sampled sounds on the tape. Edited versions of the interviews are heard on the tape.
