Miscellaneous Events and Programs:

Volunteering:

Lakes of Missouri Volunteer Program
Operated out of University of Missouri-Columbia, this program needs
volunteers to monitor Missouri lakes for water quality. Visit their
website at www.lmvp.org.

Missouri Master Naturalist Program
This new program is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation
and University of Missouri-Columbia's Outreach and Extension. Participants
will develop skills as a naturalist, resource scientist, botanist educator,
or recreation specialist. Activities include special training programs,
plant and wildlife surveys, and landscape restoration. For more
information, contact Ginny Wallace at Ginny.Wallace@mdc.mo.gov or Bob
Pierce at PierceR@missouri.edu. and visit their website at www.monaturalist.org

Missouri Stream Team Program
This is a very strong statewide program sponsored by MDC, DNR, and CFM.
Stream teams do various activities to promote the ecological health of
streams, whether that be picking up litter or conducting biological and
chemical monitoring. For the latter, one must go through training courses,
which are free and offered at various times of the year around the state.
Teams can consist of a single individual or a large group. Some teachers
adopt streams and have their students help. If you would like to find out
more, visit their website at www.mostreamteam.org .
